The Department of Civil Engineering in its thrust as an academic and research institution contributing to regional and national development presents its agendum to undertake relevant studies/projects/research addressing problems within the community it resides providing concrete and effective remediation/solutions utilizing available resources within the local environment.
Due to the spectra of the civil engineering fields, the research activities in the Department of Civil Engineering are focused on three areas based on the faculty members’ fields of expertise. Currently grouped into three clusters/themes according to specialization, the faculty member could be in:
Cluster A: Structural Engineering and Construction Management
Cluster B: Water and Water-related
Cluster C: Geotechnics, Surveying, Planning and Transportation
Specifically, the major research investigations that the department had undertaken and will continue to undertake in its effort to support sustainable development of the region it is serving were/are along the line of structural analysis and design, hydrological modeling, soil erosion modeling, geo-technical and geological analysis, design using GIS models & other specialized areas.
